If we could go back to our land, we wouldn't be here.

In today’s world, everyone knows about the Syrian refugee crisis and how devastating it is. But have you ever wondered how painful and of a big shock  it was for the initial survivors? To move from one country to another country to seek a home? Ever imagined how young children clung to their parents, or sometimes, a parent, or most of the time, with a fellow adult refugee who they have never met before?

I, Zoyah Aameen, am a Syrian refugee and a 20 year old student activist who now resides in Canada with my father, my handicapped mother, and my sister who is a sophomore in high school.
